Almost two weeks after valentine’s day, the annual United Way ‘Rouge’ gala allows all to once again wear their finest red attire for one more evening of glamour and glitz. Hosted by Melissa Grelo (CTV’s The Social), the Rouge 2015 fundraiser for the United Way is in support of their GenNext initiative
Held at the art deco inspired Arcadian Court at Queen and Bay, the atmosphere at Rouge 2015 was a glamorous sea of everything red, from the clothing to the lighting and to the decor.
Rogue 2015 Make-Up Table
Rouge 2015 had it all, a dance floor, a DJ, an auction, hors d’oeuvres and an enormous turn out of supporters for an excellent cause on a very cold February night in Toronto.
Once inside the front door you knew you were in for an evening of fun! Up for auction this year were dinners with senior executives of many well known companies. Where else could you get a one on one meeting with a company leader? Brilliant concept! As well there were an assortment of fabulous paintings by local artists. What separates this auction from other charity auctions is that you did not need to spend a dollar. The bids were made in terms of volunteer hours that one can contribute. Bid increments were in 5 hour amounts and in the end hundreds of hours of volunteer time were accumulated.
Mountain of Gift Bags
United Way is one of the best known not-for-profit organizations in Canada and Rouge 2015 was a great example of how wide spread their support is. Their #sharethelove hashtag was an appropriate message which resonated throughout the entire evening. If anyone doesn’t have this event on your social calendar, 2016 is only a year away, be there! and wear red !
